Many classrooms used the provincial election as a chance to discuss Canada’s democratic system and issues in the community.
All candidates in the local riding where ´óÏó´«Ã½ South Secondary is located were invited to a forum to support classroom learning. Students helped moderate and organize it, with thoughtful questions asked by the youth who attended from several classes.
Schools such as Brantford Elementary and Cariboo Hill Secondary held a Student Vote as part of their learning about how to effectively participate as active and informed citizens. Adult learners who are part of the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada or LINC program also did a mock vote as part of their real-world learning.
